Our advisory team spearheads our overall business activities, establishes project opportunities, and provides advisory and strategic consultancy. The business sector is also served by the other technical discipline-led divisions in Xodus covering Energy Developments, Environment & Sustainability, Subsea & Marine, Process & Facilities and Late Life & Decommissioning.

We work across hydrogen, carbon capture and storage, offshore wind, interconnectors, oil and gas and innovative energy systems. As a truly integrated business we bring together the right skills to work with and solve our clients’ problems.

Overall Purpose of the Role

For years, we have provided advisory services to the market in oil and gas, offshore renewables, decommissioning and carbon, capture and storage. We are seeking intentional growth across the APAC region and we are looking for a senior consultant who will thrive on forging this path.

Reporting to the Head of Advisory, the Principal Consultant will be a driving force behind establishing our regional presence and expanding our technical and financial due diligence services.

You’ll collaborate closely with our in-house technical experts across Asia-Pacific, local subject matter experts and our established Advisory team in the UK, leveraging global best practices while tailoring solutions to the unique needs of the APAC energy market.

By leveraging networks, you will identify and develop new opportunities, fostering strong and trusted relationships with clients and collaborate with our Global Advisory centre to deliver local value and lead consultancy projects across various energy-related fields

Requirements
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to high-level stakeholders (lenders, developers, government entities, investors), translating complex technical findings into actionable business insights.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, focusing on long-term partnerships and repeat business opportunities.
  • Shape and refine the Advisory practice’s methodologies, tools, and best practices specific to energy sector engagements.
  • Identify market trends, emerging technologies, and strategic opportunities for growth, providing thought leadership both internally and externally.
  • Lead end-to-end due diligence processes—covering engineering, environmental, regulatory, and commercial aspects to inform project financing, mergers, or acquisitions.
  • Collaborate with financial institutions, legal teams, and project developers to ensure alignment between technical realities and financial structures.
  • Working knowledge of tax and accounting principles impacting infrastructure projects.
  • Act as the primary Lenders’ Technical Adviser, evaluating project feasibility, technical design, construction, and operational considerations to safeguard lender and investor interests.
  • Develop comprehensive risk assessments, technical reviews, and feasibility reports for various energy projects (e.g. renewable energy, conventional power, infrastructure).
  • Lead multidisciplinary project teams, overseeing project scopes, timelines, and deliverables to ensure high-quality execution.
  • Mentor and develop junior consultants, fostering a collaborative culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
  • Ensure that all project activities comply with relevant industry standards, environmental regulations, and internal quality protocols.
  • Stay informed about evolving regulations, industry guidelines, and best practices within the energy sector.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Engineering or a related field. An MBA or other relevant advanced degree is a plus.
  • Professional certifications (e.g., CFA, CA, CPA, CIMA, MBA or Masters in Applied Finance) are advantageous.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and sustain trusted relationships, particularly across investment, finance and industry.
  • At least 10 years' experience in energy-related consulting, project finance, or technical advisory, with a focus on power generation, renewable energy, or infrastructure.
  • Proven track record serving as an LTA or similar technical advisor, especially in large-scale energy or infrastructure projects.
  • Power markets (NEM and WEM) and energy contracting strategies with an emphasis on understanding risk and return and how this feeds through to project financing and economic efficiency.
  • Hands-on experience with project finance, financial modelling, and risk analysis, particularly in the context of energy projects.
  • Familiarity with lenders’ requirements, contract negotiation, and structuring deals in alignment with commercial strategies.
  • Demonstrated success leading complex projects with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to mentor junior consultants and promote knowledge sharing and best practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts in clear, concise terms for diverse audiences.
  • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills to manage relationships with clients, financiers, contractors, and regulatory bodies.
  • Proficiency in data analysis, feasibility studies, and strategic planning.
  • Ability to quickly identify potential risks or bottlenecks and recommend practical solutions.
