Northern Star Resources’ are in search for Mining Engineers to join our Northern Goldfields Operations. These are a site based position offered on family friendly 8:6 rotation working FIFO ex Perth.

The Mining Engineer reports to the Senior Mining Engineer, and the primary role is for the safe design and implementation of drilling and blasting plans and systems as well as other production engineering requirements within the Technical Services Team.

Your main responsibilities will include:
  • Monitor daily the performance of development and production activities.
  • Give directions and information regarding the drilling and blasting schedule and plans to Shift Supervisors and Foreman.
  • Ensure accurate and achievable plans for drilling and blasting activities are completed in timely fashion to achieve target schedules.
  • Monitor production activities within the mine to identify and improve designs and productivities.
  • Undertake stope performance assessments for each stope and back analyse to ensure continuous improvement in drilling and blasting plans, designs and controls.
  • Complete stope designs for approval by Senior Mining Engineer, to maximise economic extraction of geological stope shapes with available equipment and manpower resources.
  • Complete summarised stope notes and stop reconciliations no later than 1 month, upon practical completion of stoping.
  • Management of underground contractors for project work where required.
  • Produce accurate and clear mine instructions for approval by Senior Mining Engineer
Required skills and experience:
  • Tertiary Qualifications in Mining Engineering.
  • Current “C” Class Western Australian Drivers Licence (Manual).
  • Minimum 2 years relevant experience in the mining industry.
  • Experience with mine design software including Deswik CAD.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Flexibility to adapt to improved procedures and practices.
  • St Johns Senior First Aid certificate (desirable).
  • Awareness of the Mines Safety and Inspection Act and Regulations.
