Hello. Welcome to Havas Host.

You are an Account Manager - Congratulations, you absolute boss.
Before we get into the nitty gritty of what we think your role is all about, we want you to know how we roll, because it’s how we expect you to roll too. We’re a beautifully, brilliantly varied bunch. That’s what makes this place so interesting.
But no matter who you are or what you’re into, at Havas Host we all abide by a few simple ‘Unusual Works’ behaviours that keep us on the same page.
  1. BE CAN DO: ‘Usual’ excuses hold us back and being ‘unusually’ Can Do propels us forward. Don’t think why something won’t work but what you can do to help it succeed. Put can do into action and take the lead rather than expecting someone else to do it.
  2. BE CURIOUS: Originality doesn’t come from staying in the usual lanes—it comes from venturing into the unusual. Challenge your own usual self every day. Ask unusual questions and seek unusual answers - of yourself and your clients. Learn to challenge your own assumptions and perspectives every day.
  3. BE FEARLESS: Achieving unusual works is about embracing the untested. Usually we fear failing but part of unusual works is being fearless to try. What’s the worst that can happen? We try something else!
  4. BE COLLECTIVE: Usually agencies are good at one thing. Unusually our superpower is our collective capability. But cohesive collectives don’t build themselves it’s takes individual actions. So say hello, cross the floor, seek to work with others, respect what they bring and above all, celebrate together.
If you can do all of that, and do your job (we’ll get to that in a bit), you won’t go far wrong. We’ll assess you against those behaviours as part of your annual review.

How do you know if you are being a brilliant Account Manager at Havas Host

You can (and often do) do everything an account executive can (so read that job spec too!). BUT your day to day will involve the following core responsibilities:
  • You are the person who has the best working knowledge of what’s going on day to day. You know your jobs inside out and back to front. People come to you to find out what’s going on – they trust you to steer them in the right direction.
  • You are the main point of contact for clients on a daily basis, ensuring that communication is clear, timely, and proactive.
  • You’re capable of confidently managing all day-to-day responsibilities on a piece of business you have successfully led client campaigns from concept to execution across all mediums, from broadcast to digital, print to experiential, on time and in budget.
  • You oversee the quality of deliverables, ensuring that the agency’s standards of excellence are maintained across all aspects of a campaign / work.
  • You write excellent, inspiring and concise task briefs and de-briefs and are sharpening your strategic skills by contributing to the development of larger creative briefs and strategic decks, and project proposal decks (e.g. first drafts).
  • You have a point of view on creative work, which you can respectfully articulate – the creative team love working with you, as they know you will champion excellent work on their behalf.
  • You understand inherently what is driving your client’s needs, and subsequently the reason for their briefs, debriefs and their feedback. You then take this information to help mould and craft excellent creative work, that works for the client- with perfect balance.
  • You speak up in meetings both internal and external with a point of view that is both articulate and to the point.
  • You can deal with conflict or problems with diplomacy and tact and bring any issue round to a good outcome.
  • You ensure the workflow plan is being updated weekly and accurately, ensuring any changes are communicated back to the agency team and reflected in your project planning.
  • You provide regular status updates to the Account Director, keeping them informed of project progress, potential issues, and opportunities.
  • You address client concerns and issues promptly and effectively, escalating to the Account Director when necessary.
  • You foster strong relationships with clients, acting as a trusted advisor and consistently ensuring their needs are met.
  • You are in frequent contact with your clients, you know their business and competitive landscape as well as they do, if not better. A client knows that they’re in a safe set of hands once you are put on a project and they find you invaluable.
  • You are starting to get comfortable in managing people, and this could be direct reports (such as Account Executives) or by taking on your own projects and managing the team that work with you to deliver the project.
  • You have a solid financial management skills. This means you estimate accurately, manage client POs, ensure timely billings, track and manage cost vs revenue each month, mange scope creep, alert the Client to any overages or underages for both project and retainers, ensure jobs stay on track, and generally boss all aspects of the financials in a timely manner.
  • You also support your Account Director by forecasting workflow accurately and alerting your team to any increases/decreases immediately. Oh, and you’re also starting to proactively seek to grow revenue on your accounts by keeping your ear to the ground, being curious, reading between the lines and paying attention to the little things on your client’s business.
This is how you’ll be assessed each year, and in your monthly catch ups with your manager, we anticipate you will discuss how you are tracking against these.

We’re absolutely delighted to have you.
