Role Objective:The Retail Manager plays a key role in driving the success of Belgrave Petroleum by effectively overseeing all aspects of the business’s retail operations. This includes ensuring seamless daily operations, maintaining service standards, and implementing strategies to enhance performance and profitability.
Scope of Responsibilities:The Retail Manager has full accountability for managing the retail division of Belgrave Petroleum, ensuring smooth and efficient operations across all areas of the business, including fuel station, convenience store, and related retail activities (Country Fried Chicken – CFC).
Key Responsibilities:- Operational Oversight
- Supervise the daily operations of the retail business, ensuring efficient and effective management.
- Maintain compliance with all health, safety, and legal regulations.
- Uphold high cleanliness and organizational standards across all facilities.
- Team Leadership & Service Excellence
- Oversee the hiring, training, and performance management of retail staff.
- Manage staff rosters to ensure adequate coverage and smooth operations.
- Define and implement service quality benchmarks through structured training, supervision, and employee feedback.
- Financial Management & Pricing Strategies
- Develop and manage financial forecasts and budgets for the retail store.
- Ensure adherence to budgeted figures and financial targets.
- Establish effective pricing strategies that align with operational goals and market conditions.
- Oversee financial transactions, stock control, and maintain accurate sales records for financial planning.
- Marketing & Promotional Activities
- Design and execute marketing initiatives targeting local customers through print, online, and in-store promotions.
- Develop promotional strategies to enhance visibility in tourist guides and relevant advertising platforms.
- Ensure that in-store marketing materials and promotional displays are engaging and effective.
- Inventory & Procurement Management
- Monitor stock levels and adjust product selection based on sales data to optimise turnover.
- Implement purchasing policies that align with business needs and cost efficiency.
- Regularly review suppliers and negotiate competitive deals.
- Identify and source new products and suppliers to enhance product offerings.
- Customer Service & Sales Optimisation
- Address customer inquiries and complaints promptly and professionally.
- Monitor online reviews and provide appropriate responses.
- Assist customers with product selection and transactions as required.
- Identify opportunities to enhance operational efficiency and increase sales.
- Compliance & Safety Management
- Ensure adherence to occupational health and safety regulations.
- Maintain compliance with HACCP food handling standards.
- Conduct periodic site audits to uphold safety measures for fuel and gas handling.
- Report key performance indicators (KPIs) to the Operations Manager.
Hours of Work
This is a full-time position requiring a minimum of 38 hours per week. The work schedule may vary based on operational needs.
Qualifications, education, experience and abilities required:
Qualifications- Relevant Diploma or bachelor’s degree
- Past experience gained in a retail manager role of around 1 + years will be expected.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- Self-motivated with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
