CNC Machinist
Bundaberg Sugar Group Ltd is a grower, miller, refiner, and marketer of sugar and related products in Australia. The company is one of Australia's largest cane growers and owns and operates sugar mills in Queensland. Bundaberg Sugar participates in all levels of the raw sugar industry in the districts in which it operates.
The company's activities span the full sugar processing cycle including cane growing, milling, refining, packaging and distributing sugar products to retail, industrial and export customers.The company's other value adding operations include Bundaberg Walkers, one of Australia's longest established, heavy engineering and foundry enterprises; and Bundaberg Molasses which supplies molasses and related products to industrial and rural markets.
Bundaberg Walkers is seeking highly skilled CNC Machinist to join their team of professionals on a full time and permanent basis.
The role includes but is not limited to:Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometres and Vernier callipers.
Select the appropriate tools, machines and materials to be used in preparation of machinery work.
Monitor the feed and speed of machines during machining operations to ensure maximum efficiency.
Verify conformance of work pieces to specifications and engineering drawings by using precision measuring equipment.
Understand engineering drawings to determine material and equipment requirements and task sequences.
Move parts into position manually or with hoists or cranes.
Set-up and operate, manual lathes, CNC machines, drills, presses, milling machines, measuring devices and other equipment as required.
Observe and listen to operating machines or equipment to diagnose machine malfunctions and to determine the need for adjustments or repairs.
Ensure records on applicable inspection sheets are kept up to date while performing tasks; cross checks are carried out on critical dimensions and the inspection sheet is handed in to the supervisor in a timely manner.
Provide trade guidance and assistance to apprentices as needed.
Operate and maintain manual handling equipment.
Clean and lubricate machines, tools and equipment to remove grease, rust, stains and foreign matter.
Ensure compliance with company safety, environment and quality policies and procedures.
Ensure records needed to verify conformity of product are maintained.
To be considered for this role, you must have: Trade Qualified Machinist
5+ years in the manufacturing industry is desirableForklift and overhead/ mobile crane licences are desirable
First Aide Certificate is desirable
Where necessary, Working in Confined Spaces and Working at Heights tickets are desirable
Good ability to read and understand 2D AutoCAD and Inventor drawings
Good verbal and written communication skills with trade terminology.
Good organisational skills with the ability to multi-taskAbility to handle work accurately and swiftly while under extremely tight time constraints.
Able to work well with limited supervision.
Manual lathe and CNC machine skills are desirable
