We're looking for a passionate and enthusiastic chef to join our small, tight knit kitchen team to assist with the daily operations of our bustling restaurant.
Askal is one of Melbourne's most exciting restaurant openings of 2024, being nominated "New Restaurant of the Year" and attaining One Hat in The Age Good Food Guide. Specialising in Filipino cuisine, which is quickly emerging as one of the city's favourites, you'll be immersed in a culture that both rich and unique.Situated in a stunning heritage building in the heart of Melbourne's theatre district, our multi level dining room, as well as our sister rooftop bar, Inuman, keeps as a bustling hub throughout the week.
You will play an integral role in the daily operations of our small kitchen, using your skills and experience in a fast-paced, premium dining environment. With the opportunity to grow in a small team, this is the perfect role for a young chef looking to take the next step in their career.
The ideal candidate must have/be:- At least one (1) year's experience working in a commercial kitchen.
- Qualifications in commercial cookery.
- Resilient and able to perform well under pressure.
- A sense of urgency and a 'can do' attitude.
- Organised with good time management skills.
- A good understanding of food safety practises and standards.
- Full working rights in Australia
- Able to work nights, weekends and public holidays.
- A basic knowledge in south east Asian cookery.
