Product Engineer, Residential Energy - Tesla

Join Tesla Energy's Product Engineering team and play a key role in ensuring the optimal performance of our fleet residential energy products. We’re looking for a degree-qualified, driven, motivated, and collaborative engineer to join us to help accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy.
As a Product Engineer, you will dive deep into fleet-wide data, troubleshoot issues, and develop solutions to enhance the customer experience. You'll collaborate with various teams, including field service, technical support, and software/firmware engineering, to identify and address challenges related to performance, operation, and maintenance.

Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and firmware issues impacting Tesla's Residential Energy customers.Determine the root cause of product failures and drive improvements through design, software/firmware, or manufacturing changes.Define and publish clear actions for field service and technical support teams to address specific failure modes.Provide expert support on escalated customer cases to minimize system downtime.Contribute to the creation of documentation and training materials for the commissioning, operation, repair, and service of Tesla's Residential Storage products.Develop internal software tools and dashboards to improve efficiency and reporting.Analyse fleet data and create insightful reports to track performance and identify trends.

Graduated with a degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Software Engineering, Physics, or a related field.Minimum 3+ years’ experience in an engineering / technical roleStrong foundation in engineering fundamentals, with an understanding of firmware/software-enabled systems.Proactive problem-solver with a positive attitude and the ability to tackle complex challenges.Experience with solar and battery systems is beneficialControl systems knowledge and an understanding of power systemsAbility to read electrical drawingsKnowledge of relevant wiring, installation and product standardsProficiency in Python and/or SQL for data analysis on large datasets.Familiarity with Linux-based applications.An ability to prioritize and execute many tasks in parallel
