Previously known as the Highlander Tavern, the Julatten Hotel reopened as part of Morris Hospitality in 2023 and offers live music, classic pub meals and a great atmosphere.
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced restaurant professional Head Chef - a person who is capable of driving excellent product, service and team culture. At the Julatten Hotel and across all Morris Hospitality venues, we are dedicated to ensuring the highest level of service and the smooth operation of all daily kitchen activities.
Your key focus will be to ensure the food offering at the venue is delivered to an exceptional standard, while operating within a clear profit framework. As Head Chef, you will need to lead by example to ensure that the kitchen team shares the same vision of producing food to the highest quality and standards.
The Head Chef is responsible for delivering an excellent product for customers by running and managing the restaurant kitchen and leading the other chefs and kitchen workers.
As Head Chef, you will be responsible for:
- Leading, managing & continuously developing the kitchen team
- Managing costs in line with budget expectations
- Exceeding budgeted revenue targets by ensuring an excellent product is served every time
- Implementing & maintaining kitchen procedures & quality control of food production
- Creative menu development
- Overseeing ordering, stocktaking, stock control & management
- Quality control of all food production
- Staff recruitment and training
- Kitchen operations management
Full-Time Salary: $80,000 - $90,000
ABOUT YOU:
To be considered for this position, you will need to demonstrate the following:
- Trade qualifications
- Experience working in a similar-style venue
- At least 3+ years experience in a similar role as Head Chef
- Experience with meat/protein & sourcing fresh local produce
- Strong leadership skills in managing & developing a kitchen team
- A solid understanding of financial management
- Ability to deliver product at the required standards in a fast-paced kitchen environment
- Commitment to producing an excellent product for customers
- Be organised & methodical
- A passion for food & innovation
- Ability to effectively train staff
- Be reliable & driven
- Excellent written & verbal communication skills
