AI Talent is seeking a skilled and experienced Wall and Floor Tiler to join our construction team. In this role, you will be responsible for laying ceramic, clay, slate, marble, and glass tiles on both internal and external walls and floors. Your work will enhance the functionality and aesthetic appeal of various residential and commercial spaces through high-quality finishes.
Prepare wall and floor surfaces by removing old tiles, adhesive, and grout; filling cracks and holes; and cleaning surfaces to ensure proper adhesion
Spread adhesive materials onto prepared surfaces and tiles, setting tiles accurately in position
Use tile-cutting tools to cut and shape tiles for edges, corners, and around fixtures such as pipes, taps, and fittings
Ensure tiles are aligned correctly and spaced evenly for a professional and consistent finish
Apply grout between tiles, clean excess grout, and polish surfaces to finalise the installation
Apply waterproofing systems as required, particularly in wet areas such as bathrooms and kitchens
May install flooring made from granolithic, terrazzo, cement, or other durable compositions
May design and lay coloured tiles in intricate patterns to create mosaics or decorative features
Ensure compliance with building codes, safety regulations, and project specifications
At least two years of on-the-job training, or three years of relevant experience may substitute for formal qualifications
ANZSCO Skill Level 3
Proven experience in wall and floor tiling across various materials and surface types
Skilled in tile preparation, cutting, laying, grouting, and finishing
Familiarity with waterproofing techniques and application of protective coatings
Ability to interpret plans and work with measurements accurately
Physically fit and comfortable working in varied environments
Strong attention to detail and high standards of workmanship
Good time management and the ability to work independently or as part of a team
