Media Planner
ROLE OVERVIEW
The Planner is responsible for delivering market leading implementation planning which ensures our clients media plans are delivering required media and busines outcomes. You are the day-to-day lead on the development of Creative Connections Recommendations and Connections Plans however this is done in close collaboration with your Trading Manager to ensure all recommendations are underpinned by accurate media pricing.
You also work collaboratively with many disciplines across the agency group such as Client Leads, Strategy, Connections Design and BU’s to ensure that all recommendations put forward for your clients are planned to deliver on the briefed business outcomes.As campaigns go live, you work in close collaboration with your Trading Manager and respective trading team to ensure all planned metrics are being delivered, or if appropriate effective optimisations are undertaken and communicated to the client.
Alongside your trading team you will also work closely with our media partners to develop best in market connections executions.You are an effective communicator with your Planning Director and Chief Media Partnerships Officer to ensure they are appropriately updated across your clients.
As the Planner you are ultimately responsible for the development of implementation recommendations and connections plans. You are also expected to build strong relationships with all agency partners that exist within a particular client’s agency village to ensure our recommendations are well rounded.
You have about 3 years’ experience in the industry and as such you have a fundamental and robust knowledge of the Australian media landscape in order to understand all of the opportunities that exist for your clients.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Leads and develops all Creative Connections Recommendations and Connections Plans in collaboration with the trading team ensuring they deliver on the briefed business outcomes.
- Incorporation of UM proprietary planning tools, such as Growth Accelerator, into the planning recommendations.
- Manages and leads planning outputs across all channels;
o Trains junior team members on UM approach to Planning
o Ensures pre, mid and post campaign reporting are completed by Trading hubs team and reviews accuracy
o Works in collaboration with all SBUs in creation of recommendation
- Contributes to the preparation of Media Landscape quarterly reviews to clients.
- Supports the Senior Planning Manager and Planning Director by managing day to day workflow;
o Supports workflow and resource allocation across the total Planning team.
o Manages issues effectively and reports issues or concerns to the Senior Planning Manager / Planning Director.
- Ensures team WIPs (Planning/Trading) are scheduled and actions allocated responsibilities post WIP.
- Drives a collaborative approach with all UM departments including BUs to develop best in class media solutions.
- Ensures a strong relationship with all media partners to remain across key/upcoming opportunities and trends;
o Takes an active role in briefing media partners in collaboration with the trading team.
- Attends required training as part of development.
- Participates in agency and group Planning initiatives ensuring best practice.
- Supports on agency pitches when available.
- Provides fair and transparent feedback on Trading team counterparts throughout the PDP and review process.
- Oversees financial process alongside the Trading Manager to ensure monthly invoicing is in-line with the plan.
- Provides accurate reconciliation of Connections Plans after invoicing occurs.
- Leads/assists with planning recommendations (in collaboration with Trading Managers) for day-to-day campaign optimisations to ensure delivery against business outcomes.
- Remains up to date with all Australian and global market trends and has an educated point of view of the impact it has on their client’s business and/or approach to the planning craft.
- Works with the Senior Planning Manager to create a positive and motivating work environment.
- Effective communication and collaboration with the Client team to ensure recommendations are in-line with client expectations and deliver on briefed outcomes.
- Has a clear demonstration of problem solving skills and comes solutions ready.
- Developing skills in creating best practice and market leading implementation planning responses, working in conjunction with the Planning Director. Ensuring that our clients are delivered future focused recommendations that take into consideration projected market trends.
- Leads the development of all Creative Connections Recommendations and Connections Plans, showing strong collaboration with the Trading Manager for trading aspects of response.
- Lives and breathes the Planning craft and has an inherit nature to continue learning and development within the craft.
- Continued development of presentation skills with more senior clients, media partners and internal UM and Mediabrands stakeholders.
- Has a positive portrayal of the Planning craft internally to build presence of the discipline.
- Has an understanding of client business objectives.
- Utilisation of UM proprietary planning tools, such as Growth Accelerator.
- Positive recognition and feedback by external media partners, clients, Trading team and BU leads.
- Positive feedback from Planning Director, Trading Director, Group Director and Chief Media Partnerships Officer through the review process.
- Produce accurate and detailed Creative Connections Recommendations and Connections Plans in collaboration with the Trading / Connections Design team.
- Delivery of all client business outcomes as per the recommended and approved Creative Connections Recommendation and Connections Plan.
- Accurately managing the day-to-day workflow into the Trading team from briefing through to completion of campaign post analysis to ensure all required outcomes are being delivered.
- Effective management of workflow within your Planning team squad.
- Effective management of deadlines.
- Ability to identify revenue opportunities
Salary range between $80,000 and $82,000 inclusive of superannuation.
