Ultimately, an accountant plays a crucial role in ensuring financial control, legal compliance, and business sustainability—making them a key asset to any successful construction and development firm.
Main Responsibilities:- Manage the integrity of financial reports including balance sheet, profit & loss and cash flow statements.
- Prepare timely and accurate end of the month financial reports.
- Monthly maintenance of General Ledger, including journal entries, accruals, Fixed assets & depreciation and adjustments.
- Management of account receivables and account payables.
- Prepare and review tax returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all relevant regulations.
- Manage other ATO requirements including BAS lodgements and PAYG.
- Stay updated on emerging tax laws and regulations, industry trends, and best practices to provide proactive and effective tax advice.
- Forecasting, budget preparation, and Balance Sheet reconciliations.
- Develop strong and collaborative relationships with key stakeholders to ensure effectiveness of communications and resolution of issues.
- Continuous improvement of procedures and processes to improve efficiency.
- General accounting and ad-hoc duties as they arise.
- Tertiary qualifications in Accounting or Finance (CPA/CA qualified).
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar financial accounting role.
- Strong Excel and general systems skills (experience with Pronto and Adaptive an advantage).
- Experience in manufacturing, project accounting, or cost accounting (highly regarded).
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to liaise with non-finance stakeholders.
- A natural problem-solver who can work independently and manage competing priorities.
- A strong sense of initiative and a hands-on approach to driving results.
