About the Role (your why)
As Practice Manager - Portfolio, Program, and Projects, you will be a strategic leader within Datacom tasked with driving growth, innovation, and ultimately commercial success in a market-facing proposition. In this role, you will take a pivotal position within our collaborative leadership team, growing and shaping the portfolio, programs, and projects to deliver exceptional outcomes for our Customers in Western Australia.
Reporting to the General Manager, you will take responsibility for growing a high-performing team, creating strategic relationships with customers, managing financial outcomes, and combining your deep Portfolio, Program and Project technical expertise with strong commercial awareness to craft, position, and deliver our project services.
Our Datacom office is based in Perth, and we like to bring people together in person when we can, but we are mindful of the benefits of working from home for work/life balance. We therefore leave it to you and the team you join to figure out what works best!
At the moment, as Practice Manager - Portfolio, Program, and Projects, you will be focused on the following:
- Assist with pre-sales, providing support to our sales and new business teams by engaging directly with customers to tackle some of their biggest challenges across programs and projects
- You will champion the services and solutions for which you are the owner, leveraging the relationships you build with customers to create opportunities for programs and projects that benefit the customer
- Consult with the wider practice management team to define and execute a growth strategy for your portfolio, programs, and projects
- Lead and grow a high-performing team, mentoring the Portfolio, Program and Project Managers within your practice, creating a strong culture with a focus on customer-centricity, collaboration, and team growth across program and project delivery
- Operationally, you will assist with workforce planning and hiring decisions within your practice, with the support of your peers, to ensure successful program and project outcomes
- Hands-on delivery leadership across the development lifecycle for programs and projects, working with Datacom teams and customer teams when required - with strong support from the delivery practice
- You will build relationships with relevant partners to support the success of your portfolio, programs, and projects
- Commercial and Financial Management of the local Practice, including oversight of program and project budgets
- Assist in setting and executing the regional strategy, with a focus on aligning portfolio, program, and project goals to the customer landscape
What you'll bring:
- A self-starting, driven, enthusiastic, and collaborative approach to leadership
- Management or equivalent leadership experience of project teams, ideally within Managed Service environments
- Experience managing and leading IT professionals and leaders in delivering successful programs and projects
- Demonstrated expertise in managing client relationships to support program and project success
- Understanding of budgeting and time and resource constraints within a program and project context
- The ability to assess clients’ needs, identify customer requirements, and connect them to business outcomes for programs and projects
- Experience collaborating with teams to develop cohesive product designs, roadmaps, technical architecture, and estimates for projects and programs
- Strong leadership, management, and organizational skills to oversee portfolios, programs, and projects
- Good influencing, interpersonal, and communication skills to engage senior leaders and technical specialists and coordinate complex interactions across multiple teams for program and project success
