About the role:
It’s an exciting time to join one of the leading non-bank lenders in Australia as we embark on ambitious growth plans across the country. The Data Engineer will monitor data processing efficiency and propose solutions for improvements as well as identifying and investigating potential data quality issues and explore ways to improve data quality and reliability.
The Data Engineer supports our stakeholders in defining and rolling out the right data architecture, data platform and infrastructure that support their needs, implement and maintain automated data pipelines, and infuse data through business intelligence and analytics.
Working in an Agile environment and with cutting edge technologies, you will:
- Deliver quality solutions aligned to strategic priorities
- Have a strong business understanding of the financial sector (Banking, Insurance or Capital markets)
- Share your experience by coaching Junior team members
- Be expert in navigating your way through cloud computing services, such as Azure, AWS or GCP
- Have a good overview of the data ecosystems and frameworks
- Highly developed experience with lean/agile software development

Your Experience:
Finding the right trade-offs between the performance, reliability, scalability, and cost of the data pipelines you implement, the Data Engineer will also:
- Demonstrable experience working across various levels of data (SQL, ETL, Data Modelling).
- Exposure to Cloud technologies (AWS) and data migration from legacy to Cloud.
- Experience working with complex SQL queries and stored procs.
- PowerBI or other BI reporting experience
- Automated Data testing experience is desired
- Ability to engage, inform and liaise with key stakeholders and work with multi-disciplinary teams.
- Experience working within Agile projects and methodologies.
- Understanding of the software testing life cycle in an agile environment.
- Ability to work autonomously and drive outcomes
- Highly developed communication skills
- A computer degree, engineering degree or equivalent industry experience
