Senior Manager Media Relations - Sydney

The Opportunity
This 12 month contract represents a unique opportunity for an experienced media and corporate affairs professional with at least 8-10 year experience to work across a broad portfolio of business and Group initiatives at Australia’s largest retailer.This role is a key contributor to the Group’s media response across a range of high-profile announcements and media engagements, including in areas of sustainability, agriculture, supplier relations, regulatory affairs and commercial. It provides strategic counsel to key stakeholders across the Group, supports the Head of Media Relations and Director of Group Brand and Marketing, and assists with oversight of day-to-day media enquiries managed by the team.
What you'll do- Become a trusted partner to senior leaders - providing strategic communications advice and outstanding tactical delivery on short and long term challenges and opportunities with a focus on media relations
- Foster open, responsive and transparent relationship with media on proactive announcements to deliver positive earned outcomes
- Be a trusted support to the Head of Media and Public Relations and Director of Group Brand and Marketing providing insights and advice to support the delivery of plans for the wider business
- Collaborate with Government Relations, Internal Communications and Supplier Relations to ensure alignment of media activity and consistency of messaging with external and internal stakeholders
- Extensive experience in Media Relations/Corporate Affairs
- Experience working in a high demanding in-house media press office, with ongoing shifting priorities
- Experience responding to issues and crisis situations
- Pitching and securing positive media coverage
- Developing short, medium and long term strategic communications plans in support of business initiatives or in response to issues
