The Opportunity:

We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Principal Consultant - Commercial and Contract Management to join our team in Brisbane. This key leadership role will be responsible for the strategic commercial and contractual management of major civil projects within the rail industry.

The successful candidate will lead a team in ensuring that all commercial activities are managed effectively, mitigating risks, maximising opportunities, and ensuring project success.

Missions/Main Duties:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the full contract lifecycle, from tender development and negotiation to contract administration and close-out.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, relevant legislation, and industry best practices.
  • Manage contract variations, claims, and disputes, and lead negotiations to achieve favourable outcomes.
  • Liaise with clients to facilitate contractual process to ensure access to all relevant documents, timely review and approval/reconciliation of variations.
  • Ensure that contracts are executed, and contractual requirements communicated to all relevant parties to provide contract visibility and awareness to support implementation.

Profile/Skills:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline, such as Engineering, Commerce, Law, or Quantity Surveying.
  • Extensive experience (10+ years) in commercial and contracts management, with a significant portion in the rail industry and/or major civil projects.
  • Proven experience in leading and managing the commercial function on large, complex projects.
  • Strong understanding of project finance, cost control, and risk management principles.
  • Proficiency in relevant software and systems (e.g., contract management software, financial management systems).
  • Experience in managing claims and disputes, with a proven track record of achieving successful outcomes.
