Job Title: Disability Services Officer

Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and empathetic Disability Services Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for working with individuals with disabilities to identify their needs, provide support and resources, and facilitate their access to services and programs.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of disability issues, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a commitment to promoting inclusion and empowerment.

Responsibilities:
  • Work collaboratively with individuals with disabilities to identify their needs, goals, and aspirations, and develop individualized plans to achieve them.
  • Provide information, support, and advocacy to individuals with disabilities to help them access services and programs, such as housing, employment, education, and healthcare.
  • Coordinate and monitor the provision of services and programs, including identifying and resolving issues, and ensuring that services meet the individual's needs and goals.
  • Build and maintain relationships with community partners, stakeholders, and organizations to facilitate collaboration and resource sharing.
  • Organize and facilitate training and education sessions for individuals with disabilities, their families, and community members on disability issues, accessibility, and inclusive practices.
  • Conduct outreach activities to raise awareness of disability issues and services and to engage individuals with disabilities and their families.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records and documentation of client interactions, program activities, and outcomes.

Essential Criteria
  • Certificate III in Individual Support
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working with individuals with disabilities
  • Manual handling certificate and experience
  • Current First Aid and CPR
  • Yellow Card/NDIS worker’s screening check
  • Strong understanding of disability issues, including accessibility, inclusion, and the social model of disability.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with individuals with disabilities, their families, and community partners.
  • Basic computer skills and experience with database management and record keeping.
