About You
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated professional to contribute to our health, safety and environmental management initiatives. With a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role, you will have a comprehensive understanding of health and safety systems design, development, and implementation, ideally aligned with ISO45001 standards.
Your experience with environmental management systems is desirable, and you will have a solid understanding of workers’ compensation systems and relevant legislation, ensuring compliance and best practices.
Additional qualifications and attributes include:
- Certificate IV in Occupational Health and Safety or Diploma level preferred.
- Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessing (desirable).
- Change-oriented with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Excellent communication, strong data analysis, and interpersonal skills.
- Ambitious, self-motivated, and demonstrates a genuine growth mindset.
- High level of attention to detail and superior MS Office skills.

About The Role
As the Group HSE Specialist, you will play a crucial role in advancing our cultural maturity through the implementation of our health, safety, and environmental management system and HSE Strategic Plan. This position focuses on providing corporate support to enhance HSE performance and drive consistent cultural engagement across all Journey Beyond brands, while also offering operational HSE support to the Attractions and Dining division.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the HSE governance framework and coordinate the Executive HSE Committee, improving effectiveness across all HSE committees.
- Participate in Project Management Teams, ensuring safety and change management are addressed according to Corporate HSE frameworks.
- Coordinate functional HSE training to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Actively engage as part of the Journey Beyond HSE team, supporting the implementation of strategic initiatives.
- Lead HSE strategic reporting and data capture using Monday.com and other systems.
- Maintain reporting systems, access, permissions and configuration and manages improvements to uphold high data quality standards.
- Support the Injury Management system and collaborate with the Corporate Injury Management Advisor for positive employee rehabilitation outcomes.
- Oversee the implementation of health and wellbeing strategies to enhance organisational culture and reduce psychosocial risk
- Leads the maturation of our incident and emergency system and works in partnership with the Risk & Compliance to team on our Business Continuity Planning. Has a solid understanding of incident investigation methodologies, such as ICAM.
- Develop and maintain the Corporate HSE framework for future certification to ISO45001 and improve WHS assurance protocols.
- Support the design and implementation of the Environmental Management system to enable future ISO14001 certification.
- Advocate for our Journey Lightly philosophy and lead advancements in environmental management.
- Capture data for Environmental reporting related to our ESG requirements.
- Provides the full spectrum of operational HSE support to our Attractions and Dining business units.
