What you’ll do

This is one of the key roles in the Wpay Data Engineering space reporting to the Engineering Manager.
  • Deliver cloud platform capabilities for business delivery streams.
  • Collaborate with architects, business analysts, engineers, product managers and other business representatives to understand business plans and requirements and translate them to technical designs and implementation
  • Design and deliver secure & robust platforms with a service based approach to delivery 24/7 availability and high performance
  • Engineer tooling and design patterns that support observability and alerting.
What you’ll bring
  • Strong hands on experience in Google Cloud Platform(GCP)
  • Solid technical expertise to manage, manipulate and automate complex data feeds, analytical data marts and new database solutions (i.e. BigQuery, Python, SQL etc)
  • Strong experience with Google Big Data platforms and associated tools such as BigQuery, DataFlow, DataProc, PubSub and AirFlow
  • Strong DevOps and Infrastructure-as-Code mentality with hands-on experience in Terraform.
  • Good understanding of data engineering patterns, including NRT time, synchronous data integration, event messaging, pub/sub and Kafka models, and legacy patterns such as SFTP
  • Cloud monitoring tools include Prometheus, Grafana, Appinsight and Dynatrace etc.
  • Strong data & analytics experience is highly desirable.
  • 10 years experience within the IT Industry/retail services or in technology delivery
  • 5+ years experience in Software Engineering
  • Experience in the payments, retail or ecommerce industry would be highly regarded as well as working in a PCI-DSS compliant environment
