Position Overview:The Telecommunications Engineer will be responsible for the design, deployment, management, and maintenance of telecommunications networks and systems. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and experience with network design, integration, testing, and optimisation.
This role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams and the ability to ensure network performance, scalability, and security.
Key Responsibilities:- Design, configure, and maintain telecommunications systems, including LAN, WAN, VoIP, fibre optic, and wireless communication technologies.
- Plan and implement network infrastructure upgrades and optimisations to ensure seamless connectivity and system reliability.
- Analyse network performance and implement solutions to enhance system reliability, capacity, and uptime.
- Conduct feasibility studies and evaluate technical requirements for new telecommunications solutions.
- Collaborate with stakeholders, vendors, and service providers to ensure timely delivery of projects and services.
- Troubleshoot and resolve network and system issues, implementing preventative measures to mitigate future risks.
- Monitor network security, identifying vulnerabilities, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and cybersecurity best practices.
- Provide technical support and guidance to team members and clients as needed.
- Document network designs, configurations, and upgrades to ensure accurate technical reporting and knowledge sharing.
- Stay current with industry trends, new technologies, and innovation to identify opportunities for system improvements.
- Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
- Relevant professional certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, Certified Wireless Network Administrator (CWNA), or equivalent) highly regarded.
- 3–5 years of experience in telecommunications engineering or a similar role.
- Proven experience in designing, implementing, and managing communication networks and infrastructure.
- Strong knowledge of IP networking, VoIP technologies, wireless networks, fibre optic systems, and routing/switching protocols.
- Hands-on experience with network analysis tools, firewalls, and network monitoring software.
- Proficiency with network hardware and software configuration, testing, and troubleshooting.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively liaise with technical teams, vendors, and clients.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity principles and network protection technologies.
