Motor Mechanic

The Motor Mechanic will be in charge of transporting engines and parts from various motor vehicle kinds, including transmissions, suspension, steering, and brakes, as well as testing, diagnosing, and debugging significant defects. A high level of ability, meticulous attention to detail, and the motivation to do mechanical servicing jobs quickly and effectively are requirements for this profession.

The Motor Mechanic is expected to work closely with other team members to guarantee the best possible repair and maintenance services for vehicles, increasing both the general level of client satisfaction and the workshop's efficiency in operation.

The annual salary for the role is $73,500.00 plus Superannuation

Responsibilities include:

• Discuss issues with car drivers or vehicle operators to identify problems, listen to engines, use specialised test equipment, and test drive vehicles to determine faults.
• Identify problems, establish causal relationships, and consider information from various sources to determine the most effective approach.
• Provide comprehensive vehicle information on requisition order - kilometres, engine number, registration number, etc.
• Lifts the vehicle by utilising a hydraulic jack or hoist, enabling access to mechanical components fastened beneath the vehicle.
• Disassemble component assemblies such as engines, gearboxes, differentials, or steering gear and repair or replace worn-out or malfunctioning parts by disassembling and inspecting the parts, and consulting instructions as needed.
• Reinstall repaired or replacement parts or assemblies, test, clean, and adjust them, using a variety of instruments to ensure appropriate operation, and then reinstall them into the vehicle.
• Conduct preventive maintenance, such as checking fluid levels, brake systems, steering, generating, ignition, and electrical wiring systems.
• Diagnose, fix, and replace fuel injection and engine management components.
• Locate and fix issues with lighting, instrumentation, electronic fuel injection, ignition, and emissions control systems using electronic test equipment.
• Provide apprentice supervision, as needed.
• Ensure that you keep tools and equipment clean and organised, and maintain the appearance and presentation of the service area.
• Returns specialised tools and reference materials to their designated areas.
• Properly dispose of hazardous substances.
• Adheres to occupational health and safety procedures.

Qualifications:

• Must hold an Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) Certificate IV in Automotive.
• Must have at least one to two (1-2) years of relevant experience in a commercial workshop setting.
• Working knowledge of mechanical systems.
• Strong mechanical and technical aptitude.
• Skilled with both power and manual tools.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
• Has verifiable employment references.
