The Opportunity
OES is committed to supporting its students throughout their learning journey. A critical element of its quality student experience is the provision of personalised student support services.
As a part of Student Operations, the Student Coaches work with students to provide coaching support throughout their student lifecycle. Student Coaches connect students with their goals and motivations, empowering students to identify what success means to them, set realistic goals, and take ownership of achieving them.
The Student Coach team requires passionate, proactive, empathetic and resourceful team members capable of facilitating a measurable difference in student retention.
This is a casual role, and shifts range between 2-3 days per week (up to 5 days during busy periods). Shifts are Monday - Friday.
Responsibilities include:
- Contact students at critical points in their learning journey to offer practical and professional support to achieve their academic goals
- Utilise evidence based interventions to promote student success
- Provide change management support for students at risk
- Facilitating one-on-one appointments and group webinars covering topics including overcoming procrastination, finding motivation, time management, and self-care
- Welcome and support new students as they transition to online study
- Assist with practical queries and liaise with the Student Advisor team for more complex queries
- An undergraduate degree in Psychology or similar (desired)
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills to facilitate the provision of advice and support for students
- Skills and experience in coaching or related area
- Ability to reflect on practice and formulate strategies and processes to effect change
- Comfortable to work within a phone-based support context
- Demonstrated ability to be flexible, resourceful and adaptive
- Ability to positively contribute to the development of an innovative, values based team culture
