Job Title: Compute – Infrastructure Operations SME
Job Description:We are seeking an experienced Compute – Infrastructure Operations SME to lead a team in delivering, maintaining, and supporting critical client infrastructure. In this role, you will oversee the operation, monitoring, and optimisation of production and non-production environments while ensuring high availability, performance, and compliance with IT service standards.
You will also collaborate with cross-functional teams to proactively address incidents, implement improvements, and drive automation.
This position requires strong technical expertise in cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, VMware), scripting and automation, and ITIL best practices. You will act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) and provide strategic input to enhance infrastructure support processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a team of Infrastructure Analysts and Coordinators, ensuring smooth operations and timely issue resolution.
- Act as a technical escalation point for complex infrastructure-related incidents, problem management, and change implementation.
- Oversee the availability, reliability, and performance of infrastructure across production, pre-production, and test environments.
- Collaborate with application, security, and DevOps teams to design and implement scalable infrastructure solutions.
- Provide strategic guidance on cloud adoption, automation, and IT service improvements.
- Manage and optimise infrastructure monitoring tools to enhance proactive issue detection and response.
- Ensure compliance with ITIL frameworks, including incident, problem, and change management processes.
- Conduct regular stakeholder meetings to review infrastructure performance, risks, and upcoming projects.
- Oversee capacity planning and cost optimisation for cloud and on-premises infrastructure.
- Participate in CAB (Change Advisory Board) meetings and on-call rotations to support critical incidents.
- Drive automation initiatives using Terraform, Python, PowerShell, or other scripting tools.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and knowledge bases.
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce downtime.
- Maintain infrastructure currency via patching, OS upgrades, SOE development and hardware refreshes
- Management of hybrid cloud, multi-vendor environments.
Job Qualifications (Must-Have Skills):
- 5+ years of experience in Infrastructure Support, IT Operations, or related fields.
- Strong expertise in VMware, Azure, and AWS cloud technologies.
- Proficiency in scripting and automation using Terraform, Python, bash/shell, and PowerShell.
- Hands-on experience with Windows Server and Linux OS (RHEL, CentOS, DEBIAN) administration, configuration, and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of database management (Oracle, SQL) in an infrastructure environment.
- Experience with infrastructure monitoring tools (e.g., Splunk, Prometheus, Nagios, or similar).
- Familiarity with ITIL processes and certification in ITIL v4 (preferred).
- Proven ability to lead teams, drive initiatives, and collaborate with stakeholders.
Additional Requirements:
Security Clearance Requirement: Given the secure nature of this role, we are seeking candidates who are Australian Citizens with an active security clearance or are eligible for obtaining security clearance.
This requirement ensures that all team members are cleared to handle sensitive information and contribute to maintaining the highest standards of security in our operations.
On-call and Shift Expectations: This position is primarily focused on managed services, meaning you will be responsible for maintaining and improving our clients' IT systems (Applications and Infrastructure). Flexibility and adaptability are key, as you may be required to work in shifts to provide continuous support.Additionally, you may need to be on call to address incidents promptly and perform after-hours deployment activities as needed. Your ability to effectively manage these responsibilities will be crucial to ensuring the seamless operation of our services and client satisfaction.
Must be willing to work from Accenture/client office location 3 days a week (2 days WFH)
