Broadsheet’s Sales, Partnerships & Marketing team is responsible for driving commercial revenue for the business through advertising solutions. We work with Australia’s biggest brands and agencies to develop creative, innovative and meaningful partnerships that drive business results.

You will have experience in and a thorough understanding of the media industry and content landscape, as well as a natural ability to develop relationships with media agencies and direct clients. We also need someone who is both creatively and commercially minded as you will be pivotal in helping to shape what you sell as you will be working closely with Broadsheet’s award-winning studio team to create integrated solutions for our partners that span across articles, video, podcast, events and digital media.

The Role

We are seeking a Sales & Marketing Manager to join the Broadsheet Commercial Team.

This Melbourne-based role will work with the wider Sales, Partnerships & Marketing team to achieve state and individual based sales targets.

This role is based from our Melbourne office, where you will form part of a broader team of talented individuals from across the business.
Working closely with direct brand partners and agencies, the role requires someone to manage the end-to-end process of developing, marketing strategies, advertising sales and content partnership solutions for direct clients. This is a role where you’ll navigate the entire sales cycle - from extracting briefs to strategy and ideation, negotiation and bringing our award-winning ideas to life.

This means we are looking for a well-rounded sales & marketing manager and someone who finds joy in the detail and works well within a team with a clear purpose and process.

Key responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement marketing strategies and plans to promote Broadsheet’s media offerings across digital, print, podcast, event, and activation channels.
  • Plan and direct sales and marketing activities to align with company objectives and commercial targets.
  • Identify new business opportunities by analysing market trends and client needs.
Establish distribution channels for content and services across key platforms.
  • Oversee and coordinate advertising and content production in collaboration with the studio team.
  • Research and analyse data to identify target audiences and inform marketing strategies.
  • Prepare and manage marketing budgets, ensuring cost-effectiveness and optimal resource allocation.
  • Develop pricing strategies, determine discount rates and oversee the preparation of proposals and pitches for potential clients.
  • Manage the full sales cycle from prospecting to briefing, ideation, proposal development, negotiation, schedule building and campaign execution.
  • Evaluate marketing potential of new and existing market segments to identify growth opportunities to uncover leads.
  • Collaborate with external and internal stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery and client satisfaction.
  • Monitor, report on, and analyse the performance of sales and marketing initiatives, including campaign results and customer feedback.
  • Provide accurate reporting and pipeline management
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to support effective sales and marketing practices.
  • Lead and support team members to achieve individual and collective goals.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards (i.e.: advertising codes and practices).
What we are looking for:
  • Has 2+ years direct media sales or agency experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Excel and Canva
  • Experience with Google Analytics, CRM platforms and Boostr
  • A superior understanding of the Broadsheet brand and the way in which we integrate branded content and experiences into the Broadsheet world.
  • Is proactive and can initiate new business
  • Is comfortable to build relationships from the ground up and expand existing client connections.
  • Can build strong working relationships with external and internal stakeholders
  • Loves working in a fast paced and high performing environment
  • Is a highly organised multi-tasker who can meet tight deadlines
  • The role requires a highly organised, flexible and reliable individual who is self-motivated, consistently meets tight and often concurrent deadlines, and has a “yes” mentality.
  • Ideally has existing relationships with our major partners and strong relationships across the Melbourne industry
  • A strong interest in culture and city life

This is a hybrid role that requires the successful applicant to work from our Melbourne office at least 3 days a week and to be out in market in line with role KPI’s.
