Wheatfields Residential Care in Freeling is expanding its services, increasing care places, dementia care and respite care and is actively seeking applications from experienced clinicians who have experience in a leadership role in aged care.

Wheatfields is currently going through a building redevelopment program to increase the facility to 72 beds, with future building works for a dementia specific and day respite being considered to provide the highest quality care to residents living in Freeling and surrounds.

Wheatfields offers the ability to negotiate working days and hours to suit family and lifestyle in a Part-time or Fulltime role with a comparative hourly base rate in line with the public sector award.

Requirements of the role:

As the Level 2 Clinical Nurse you will be reporting to the Clinical Manager, working predominantly a weekday roster but may be required to work a weekend and or a late shift depending on the supervision required.

You will lead our team of dedicated registered and enrolled nurses, personal care and lifestyle staff to mentor, guide and supervise the delivery of quality services, with the aim of enabling our residents to live their best lives while in our care.

You will work closely with General Practitioners, provide relevant timely and appropriate follow up for referrals, medication changes, case conferencing and communication with families. You will be involved in assessment, care plans, respite and permanent admissions, managing the Medication Management Portfolio and ensuring our clinical procedures are up to date and maintained.

Essential Requirements of the role:
  • Current AHPRA registration
  • A current National Police Certificate for the Purpose of Aged Care
  • Current vaccination records.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in gerontic, dementia, or acute care.
  • Ability to manage and help residents with confusing or challenging behavior's
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills
  • Well-developed time management skills
Strong Attributes for the role:
  • Ability to provide strong leadership to manage a multicultural team providing encouragement, education, and mentorship to nursing and care staff.
  • Ability to build professional relationships with General Practitioners and Allied Health Providers.
  • Qualifications in gerontology and or dementia care would be highly valued.
