With an annual turnover of $500M-$800M, the company applies fair value accounting (AASB 141) to manage large-scale inventory and financial reporting.This role plays a key part in COGS valuation, hedge fund adjustments, and financial analysis within the agricultural sector.
About the Role
Reporting to the Group Financial Controller, this standalone Inventory Accountant position is crucial for fairvalue reporting, inventory costing, and external grower payments. You will be responsible for monthly
reconciliations, fair value adjustments, and financial reporting across a $100M+ inventory portfolio.
Key Responsibilities- Fair Value Accounting (AASB 141)- Calculate and release the fair value of almond crops.
- Inventory Costing- Track sales data, cost of sales (freight, commissions, storage), and lease costs.
- Month-End Close- Optimize the process (reduced from 20 days to 3).
- Grower & Sales Payments- Manage external grower payments and financial reporting.
- Data & Reporting- Work with JD Edwards and Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPS) to improve reporting accuracy.
- Process Improvement- Identify efficiencies and implement BI tools for automation.
- Stakeholder Collaboration- Partner with finance, operations, and external growers to refine reporting processes.
What We're Looking For
✅ 7-8 years of accounting experience (agribusiness preferred).
✅ Strong understanding of AASB 141 (Agriculture Fair Value Accounting).
✅ Proficiency in JD Edwards (preferred), SAP, or Dynamics.
✅ Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUPS, pivot tables, data analysis).
✅ Strong analytical, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
✅ CPA/CA qualification.
