We are currently seeking an experienced and creative Chef to join our culinary team on a full-time basis. This role is ideal for someone with strong technical cooking skills, a passion for Thai flavours, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

As a Chef at Thailicious, you will play a key role in food preparation, menu execution, and maintaining the high standards that our customers expect. Your attention to detail, time management skills, and commitment to quality will contribute directly to the success of our kitchen operations.

Job Description

Prepare, season, cook, and present a variety of dishes according to Thailicious’ recipes, flavour profiles, and plating standards.
Manage daily kitchen preparation, including chopping, marinating, batch cooking, and ensuring ingredients are ready for service.
Oversee cooking processes during busy periods, ensuring consistency in taste, portion control, and presentation.
Develop, refine, and adapt menu items in consultation with management, incorporating seasonal produce and customer preferences.
Monitor stock levels of ingredients, spices, and fresh produce; assist with ordering and receiving supplies.
Ensure proper storage, rotation, and handling of ingredients to maintain freshness and minimise waste.
Maintain kitchen workstations, equipment, and utensils in clean, organised, and hygienic condition.
Train and guide junior kitchen staff on preparation techniques, safety procedures, and cooking methods.
Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service flow and timely food delivery.

Follow all food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety standards to ensure a clean and compliant kitchen environment.

Skills Required

Formal culinary qualification or equivalent industry experience
Strong knowledge of Thai cooking techniques, flavour balancing, and authentic ingredients
Excellent knife skills and practical cooking experience in a commercial kitchen
Ability to manage multiple dishes across different stations during peak service
Strong organisational and time-management abilities in a high-pressure environment
Creativity in menu design, flavour combinations, and food presentation
Understanding of food cost control, portion management, and stock rotation
Leadership skills to guide kitchen staff and maintain smooth operations
Commitment to hygiene, safety compliance, and high kitchen standards

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-focused environment

Work Arrangements

Full-time hours: 38 per week
Job Type: Full-time & Permanent
Salary: AUD $75,000 – $80,000 per year + superannuation

Visa status: Must be permitted to work unrestricted
