Your Team & Role:
The purpose of the role is to design, implement, and maintain robust data infrastructure and pipelines that enable data-driven decision-making and products. Senior Data Engineers are responsible for delivering high-quality work across the entire data engineering lifecycle, contributing to architectural discussions, and mentoring junior team members.
What you will be doing:
- Design and implement scalable data models and pipelines that meet changing business requirements
- Ensure data quality through implementation of verification and cleaning processes
- Contribute to architectural discussions and write design documents for solutions
- Mentor and guide junior team members, fostering a culture of learning and best practices
- Proactively identify and address issues that may hinder performance or project success
- Collaborate effectively across teams to align data engineering work with broader business objectives
- Monitor and evaluate new technologies and methodologies in the data engineering field
- Take ownership of critical projects and deliver impactful solutions
What you will bring:
- Thorough grasp of data engineering architectural patterns and approaches, from dimensional modelling to event driven architectures
- Knowledge of best practices in code quality, testing, and data pipeline construction
- Experience working with multi-account AWS setups and cross-account resource management
- Strength in data pipeline orchestration and ETL processes
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools
- In-depth understanding of data security and access management in cloud environments
- Advanced understanding of data modelling methodologies (e.g., Kimball dimensional modelling)
- Proficient in writing complex SQL queries and optimizing database performance
- Strong programming skills in Python, PySpark and other relevant languages
- Ability to design and implement scalable, maintainable, and efficient data solutions serving real time data to product teams
