Role Overview
As a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for overseeing the end-to-end delivery of accounting and compliance work, including the preparation, review, and analysis of financial reports. You'll play a key role in ensuring all tax obligations are met accurately and on time, maintaining a high standard of professionalism and precision across all outputs.
This role will take full responsibility and ownership of the completion of allocated jobs and is effectively responsible for managing their own workflow under the direction of their manager.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and lodge monthly and quarterly Business Activity Statements (BAS)
- Compile and review financial statements for various entity structures, ensuring full compliance with Australian accounting standards
- Prepare and review complex individual, company, trust, partnership, and tax returns with limited supervision or direction.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients by delivering timely, accurate, and professional advice
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations
- Perform account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies in financial records.
- Stay updated on changes in tax laws and accounting standards, and participate in ongoing professional development activities
- Reviewing all work delegated to and completed by junior team members
- To assist with potential and new client opportunities or initiatives, such as attending client meetings, preparing advice and presentations
- Internal training primarily focused on maintaining technical knowledge in the relevant area of expertise
- At least 5+ years of experience in Australian public practice
- Expert knowledge of Australian taxation and accounting standards
- Proficiency in Xero (Xero Certified)
- High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
- Excellent written and spoken English communication
- Self-motivated and a team player
- High level of integrity and professionalism.
