The Role

This is a key position within the CSA team, responsible for building, maintaining, and optimizing the data infrastructure that powers our client's digital marketing insights. As a mid-to-senior level role, this position focuses on creating robust data pipelines, ensuring data quality and accessibility, and developing insightful visualizations, with a particular emphasis on digital media performance data.

You will work closely with clients and internal teams to understand data needs, extract data from various advertising platforms, model it effectively in BigQuery, and present it clearly through dashboards using Looker Studio and PowerBI. While not directly managing a team, you will collaborate with global data teams, particularly on data pipeline initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Data Pipeline Development & Maintenance
  • Design, build, and maintain robust and scalable data pipelines to ingest data from various digital platforms (e.g., Meta, Google Ads, TikTok, Google Analytics 4, Search Console, CM360, DV360) and client-specific sources.
  • Implement and manage ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) and reverse ETL processes.
  • Automate data extraction, transformation, and loading processes to ensure timely and accurate data availability.
  • Monitor pipeline performance, identify and resolve bottlenecks, and optimize for efficiency.
Data Modeling & Architecture
  • Design and implement data models in BigQuery to support reporting and analysis needs, particularly for digital media performance metrics and dimensions.
  • Develop and maintain the BigQuery data warehouse architecture on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), ensuring scalability, performance, and data integrity.
  • Create and manage data schemas, tables, views, and stored procedures.
  • Optimize data storage and retrieval for efficient querying and reporting.
Data Visualization & Reporting
  • Develop and maintain interactive dashboards in Looker Studio and PowerBI to visualize key performance indicators and provide actionable insights, with a focus on digital media campaign performance.
  • Create custom visualizations and reports to meet specific client requirements.
  • Ensure data accuracy and consistency in all reporting outputs.
  • Collaborate with analysts to understand reporting needs and translate them into effective visualizations.
  • Develop data story-telling skills to improve the effectiveness of data display on dashboards
Client & Internal Collaboration
  • Liaise with clients to understand their data needs and gain access to their digital platforms.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (e.g., analysts, account managers) to ensure data requirements are met, especially regarding digital media data.
  • Work with global data teams on data pipeline initiatives and best practice sharing.
  • Provide technical expertise and support to clients and internal teams on data-related matters.
  • Provide training to internal users on existing dashboards and reporting best-practices
Custom Data Solutions
  • Develop custom data connections and integrations for clients as needed.
  • Work on advanced data engineering projects in BigQuery, utilizing data from GA4, other digital analytics platforms, and client-specific data sources (e.g., CRM, propensity models).?
  • Manage Google product exports in BigQuery (GA4, Search Console).
  • Support clients in setting up their own BigQuery projects and collecting data from Google products.
  • Set up connections with Funnel (or other data aggregators) to connect to various client platforms.
  • Become proficient in digital media metrics and dimensions from platforms like Meta, Google Ads, CM360, and DV360.

A bit about yourself - Skills, Experience and attitude:

  • 5+ years of experience in a data engineering role.
  • Extensive experience with building and maintaining data pipelines, preferably within the digital marketing domain.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and experience with cloud data warehouses, particularly Google BigQuery on GCP.
  • Experience with data transformation tools and concepts, such as DBT, ETL, and reverse ETL.
  • Experience building dashboards with Looker Studio and PowerBI.
  • Familiarity with data visualization best practices.
  • Experience working with data from digital marketing and advertising platforms (e.g., Meta, Google Ads, TikTok, CM360, DV360).
  • Proficiency in digital media metrics and dimensions is highly desirable.
  • Experience managing Google exports in BigQuery (GA4, Search Console) is a plus.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience working in a digital media agency environment is a strong plus.
  • Proactive and self-motivated, with a strong desire to learn and improve.
Development Areas
  • Enhance data storytelling capabilities to create more impactful and insightful visualizations for dashboards, particularly for communicating digital media performance.
  • Deepen expertise in managing Google product exports within BigQuery.
  • Expand knowledge of advanced data engineering techniques and tools within the GCP ecosystem.
  • Develop expertise in setting up and managing client-owned BigQuery projects.
  • Explore and implement new data integration and automation solutions relevant to digital media.
  • Contribute to the development of best practices and standards for data engineering within the agency, with a focus on digital media data.
