About the Role
The Canteen Lead is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the venue, ensuring high standards of food and beverage quality, and delivering exceptional customer service! This role involves managing staff, handling stock and supplies, maintaining equipment, and the canteen overall.A key part of the role is fostering a positive team culture while ensuring smooth and efficient operations.
About You
The successful candidate will have extensive coffee & barista exposure, with an emphasis on customer service & supervisory experience! You should possess strong knowledge of food & beverage preparation, equipment maintenance, and basic financial monitoring.Excellent organisational and multitasking skills are essential, as well as the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required to lead, train and motivate the team effectively.
2+ Years experience working in a similar roleStrong coffee knowledge & impeccable customer service standards
Strong knowledge of food preparation, stock control & equipment
Excellent communication & leadership skills
Outstanding organisational & multitasking abilities
Experience with basic financial monitoring & reporting
Proven ability to lead & train staff
Ability to stand for extended periods
Ability to lift items up to 20kg
KEY RESPONSIBILITIESCustomer Service
Extensive coffee & barista exposureLead by example with presence on the floor
Ensure courteous, efficient service from staff
Address customer inquiries and complaints promptly
Team Leadership
Complete end-of-day, weekly, and monthly reportsLead & assist in training and supervising canteen staff
Foster a positive, collaborative team environment
Encourage participation in promotions and marketing
Lead recruitment and onboarding of new staff
Ensure staff are well-trained and integrated into the team
Stock Control & Ordering
Manage inventory levels to ensure adequate stockPlace orders for supplies in a timely manner
Monitor stock rotation
Minimise & record wastage
Ensure adherence to food safety practices
Train staff on presentation techniques
Plant & Equipment Maintenance
Ensure canteen equipment is in good working conditionSchedule regular maintenance and respond to property audits
Oversee nightly cleaning standards and liaise with the cleaning team
Financial Accountability
Monitor and control costs, including stock and labourMake adjustments to maintain budgets
Take ownership of financial reporting and cost-saving initiatives
Work Health & Safety
Conduct and maintain safe work practices by ensuring WHS standards are adhered to at all timesEnsure compliance with WHS standards. Communicate and educate members and team members to ensure a safe environment.
