We are partnering with a dynamic client to recruit for an important role in Workplace Health & Safety. This position is pivotal in ensuring a safe and compliant environment, focusing on the development and implementation of robust health and safety programmes.

The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in minimising workplace accidents while ensuring adherence to relevant legislation, fostering a culture of safety throughout the organisation.

As the Workplace Health & Safety Officer, you will provide expert advice and assistance in managing the organisation's Health Safety and Environment Management System. Your mission is to establish and implement comprehensive workplace health and safety programmes that not only reduce potential hazards but also ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Safety Programme Development: Create and implement Occupational Health and Safety Plans designed to minimise accidents across the company.
  • Advisory Role: Offer OH&S guidance across all business areas, including risk management and legislative compliance.
  • Training & Development: Conduct internal safety training and maintain records of training outcomes, ensuring all employees are equipped with essential safety knowledge.
  • Compliance Monitoring: Regularly conduct audits and inspections to ensure adherence to OHS requirements and internal policies.
  • Incident Management: Investigate workplace accidents, prepare reports, and recommend procedural improvements.
  • Customer Liaison: Communicate with major customers regarding their on-site safety requirements, occasionally travelling to their locations.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Educational Background: Minimum Certificate IV in OHS, with 3-5 years of experience in a safety systems management role, ideally within manufacturing.
  • Technical Skills: Familiarity with mechanical or electrical processes, and experience in safety training and compliance.
  • Certifications: Relevant safety certifications, such as Senior First Aid and Fire Safety Adviser, are highly desirable.
Skills & Abilities
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Proactive approach to safety and the ability to lead and motivate teams.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective negotiation and report writing.
  • Self-motivated with the capacity to manage multiple projects independently.
