The Role:

We are seeking an innovative and experienced Chef who can bring creativity and dedication to our kitchen. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a deep love for Indian cuisine and a knack for creating mouth-watering dishes. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that every meal served at Tadka Hut meets our high standards of flavor, quality, and presentation.

Location: 82 Wellington Parade, East Melbourne VIC 3002

Salary: $73,150 + Superannuation

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Menu Planning: Collaborate with management to develop and enhance the menu, including seasonal dishes and specials, while maintaining authenticity and freshness.
  2. Cooking and Food Preparation: Prepare and cook a diverse range of Indian dishes, from traditional curries to tandoori specialties, ensuring consistency in taste and presentation.
  3. Kitchen Operations: Oversee day-to-day kitchen activities, including ordering supplies, managing inventory, and ensuring compliance with food safety and hygiene standards.
  4. Team Supervision: Lead, train, and mentor kitchen staff, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment that emphasizes quality and consistency.
  5. Quality Control: Monitor the quality of food prepared, ensuring every dish meets Tadka Hut’s high standards before it reaches the customer.
  6. Cost Management: Manage food costs, portion control, and waste reduction to maintain profitability while maintaining the quality of ingredients used.
  7. Customer Focus: Adapt dishes based on customer preferences and dietary requirements, providing an exceptional dining experience.
What We’re Looking For:
  1. Qualifications: Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent.
  2. Experience: At least 2 years of experience as a Chef, preferably in an Indian restaurant or a similar culinary environment.
  3. Skills: Strong knowledge of Indian cooking techniques, spices, and flavor profiles. Exceptional kitchen management skills with attention to detail.
  4. Work Rights: Must have full working rights in Australia.
  5. Attributes: Creative, proactive, and passionate about food, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced kitchen setting.
