About the Position
The Double Barrel Bar is seeking a skilled Cook to join its dynamic kitchen team in a full-time capacity. This role is pivotal in delivering high-quality dishes in a fast-paced environment, ensuring exceptional taste and presentation while managing kitchen operations.
The successful candidate will contribute to menu planning, maintain food safety standards, and lead a team to uphold the venue’s reputation for culinary excellence.
Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare and cook dishes according to recipes, ensuring outstanding taste and presentation.
Manage kitchen staff by assigning tasks and overseeing cooks and assistants to ensure smooth operations.
Control inventory by tracking food stock, ordering supplies, and minimizing waste.
Ensure food safety by adhering to health regulations, maintaining cleanliness, and training staff on hygiene practices.
Plan and update menus, incorporating seasonal ingredients and customer preferences.
Manage costs by monitoring food expenses and setting menu prices to maintain profitability.
Lead and train kitchen staff, fostering teamwork and resolving conflicts.
Interact with customers, addressing feedback and resolving complaints about food or service.
RequirementsAustralian citizens and permanent residents are encouraged to apply.
Qualifications: Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery.
Experience: Minimum of 3 years of full-time paid work experience in a professional kitchen, with specific experience in Australian restaurants. Candidates must have expertise in preparing a variety of dishes, including continental, steak, and beef, while maintaining ingredient quality as per the chef’s menu.
Strong culinary skills with the ability to prepare diverse dishes in a busy kitchen.Leadership and team management abilities to oversee kitchen staff effectively.
