Systems Administrator
The Client:
Australia Wide Consulting Services Pty Ltd offers engineering design services in all facets of civil & structural engineering, telecommunication infrastructure structural design, façade engineering, building diagnostics, residential works design and commercial works design.
The Role:
This Systems Administrator role is for a full-time role with an annual salary of $82000 + Superannuation and will be based at their Punchbowl, NSW office.- The Responsibilities:
Design and maintain the database architecture, data structures, tables, dictionaries, and naming conventions to ensure the accuracy and completeness of all data master files
Perform operational establishment and preventive maintenance of backups, recovery procedures, and enforce security and integrity controls to safeguard data
Manage Windows-based devices and accounts through Active Directory, Group Policy Objects, registry, and file systems
Ensure technology-driven changes are aligned with the organisation's broader expectations and plans, including proactively communicating to users when impacted
Implement and administer comprehensive database documentation, guidelines, policies, and procedures to ensure standardized and secure database management
Test database systems and upgrades by debugging, tracking, reproducing, logging, and resolving all identified problems, following approved quality testing scripts, procedures, and processes.
Take responsibility for the processes, procedures, and operational management associated with system security and disaster recovery planning, ensuring system resilience
Liaise with security vendors, suppliers, service providers, and external resources; analyse, recommend, install, and maintain software security applications; and monitor contractual obligations, performance delivery, and service level agreements
Troubleshoot and provide service support in diagnosing, resolving, and repairing server-related hardware and software malfunctions, including workstations and communication infrastructure
Keep abreast of current and timely Networking/Systems/Security related issues and events
Prepare and maintain essential documentation, policies, and instructions; record detailed operational procedures and system logs to ensure clarity and continuity in system management
Ensure the computer site design accommodates all components to fit together and work properly, including monitoring and adjusting the performance of networks to meet organizational needs
Continually survey the current computer site to assess network performance, identify future network needs, and make recommendations for enhancements to support future server and network implementations
Engage in performance tuning and capacity planning activities to optimize database and system performance, ensuring efficient operation and scalability
Regularly update and patch system and database software to protect against vulnerabilities, in line with best security practices and compliance requirements
Manage user access and permissions within database and network systems, ensuring that only authorized personnel can access sensitive information in accordance with security policies
Ensure documentation is captured appropriately and is easily accessible. Create system guidelines and manuals for new and existing services
The Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Systems Administrator or similar role
Strong knowledge of database management, network architecture, and security protocols
Minimum of 3 years’ experience with backup and disaster recovery planning and implementation
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with vendors and IT team members.
Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Willingness to stay updated on new technologies and continuously enhance technical skills
Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to document and explain technical details clearly
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and lead projects to completion
