Materials Technician

We are currently seeking a Materials Technician for Perth metro site work to join our established team.

Reporting to the Manufacturing Supervisor, you'll play a crucial role in maintaining, repairing, and managing various plastic fabrication and welding equipment across site, workshop, and mobile units.

The ideal candidate will possess:

• An understanding of industrial plastics and plastic piping systems
• Great problem solving skills
• Strong analytical and communication skills
• Experience with installing UPVC/CPVC piping systems
• Exposure to reading and interpreting technical drawings; including isometrics
• A commitment to health, safety, and excellence in all tasks
• Routine testing of various plastics & polymers
• Equipment and temperature checks and maintenance
• Inspect welding, heat treatment, and fabrication processes for compliance with industry standards
• Weld poly-ethylene fittings or other components into poly-ethylene products in accordance with drawings supplied
• Continuous Improvement: Collaborate with the Manufacturing Supervisor to refine fabrication techniques and ensure consistent, repeatable manufacturing processesssssss

• Minimum of 3 years' experience in plastics welding and fabrication, consistently demonstrating superior weld quality (both strength and aesthetics). Familiarity with a variety of plastic materials like HDPE, PP, PVC, ECTFE, PTFE, and PVDF is a plus
• Proficiency in using callipers, gauge blocks, micrometres, and height/depth gauges to ensure precise measurements
• Current manual driver’s license
• Clear and effective communication with co-workers and supervisors is essential
