Manufacturing all products to order, Universal Gaskets uses specialty machine tools and tooling to create and manufacture custom gaskets and seals, requiring highly skilled technicians to design and produce the range of products available.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
Universal Gaskets is looking for a skilled and experienced Mechanical Technician to assist in the operation and testing of the various machine tools used in the manufacturing process.
As a Mechanical Technician with Universal Gaskets, you will be responsible for the set up, operation and testing of a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and equipment to order. Some of the main tasks and duties of the role include:
- Developing and finalising CAD/CAM drawings with high precision detail for all manufacturing jobs;
- Analysing drawings and technical information to determine the most appropriate manufacturing methods and sequence of operations for each job/product;
- Selecting and allocating the required tools and materials for the job;
- Locating and loading material for jobs to determine costs and run times;
- Advising on product pricing based on material costs and length of the job;
- Maintaining knowledge of different material costs to maximise yielding and minimise wastage;
- Calculating dimensions and tolerances and calibrating/testing machine parts to specifications;
- Programming computers and electronic instruments for accurate measurements;
- Overseeing testing all machine operations to ensure accurate operation and improve the quality of the job and speed of cuts/performance;
- Documenting machine behaviour with different materials to assess and analyse best strategies and to improve machine settings as required;
- Evaluating machine operating procedures with data reporting in respect of machine run times, optimisation and load times to maximise machine efficiency;
- Maintenance of all machines and tools to ensure proper operational conditions, including troubleshooting and liaising with machine manufacturers;
- Determining solutions to any identified issues and replacing parts or making software modifications as necessary;
- Assessing, measuring & testing final products to ensure that all jobs are completed within required specifications and making adjustments as required;
- Daily scheduling of all jobs and maintenance requirements;
- Ensuring compliance with all manufacturing standards including ISO 9001 and ISO 45001; and
- Maintaining cleanliness and safety of work environment.
Full-Time Salary Range: $75,000 - $80,000
ABOUT YOU:
To be considered for this position, you will need to be able to demonstrate the following:
- At least 3+ years’ experience in a relevant field as a Mechanical Technician;
- Relevant qualifications in mechanical technology/engineering or a related field (preferred);
- Experience in the manufacturing sector;
- Background in mechanical systems and precision engineering/manufacturing;
- Proficiency in CAD software, 3D modelling & technical drawings;
- High attention to detail;
- Excellent communication skills;
- Strong literacy and numeracy skills;
- Ability to read, interpret and follow technical drawings;
- Organisational and time management skills;
- Problem-solving and analytical skills;
- Ability to work independently and as part of the team; and
- Knowledge of manufacturing standards and safety procedures.
