Civil Engineer

• Planning and designing telecommunications infrastructure, including towers, masts, and underground cabling systems.
• Conducting comprehensive site surveys and feasibility studies to determine the best locations for installing telecommunications equipment. This involves analysing factors like terrain, accessibility, and environmental impact.
• Managing the construction and installation of telecommunications infrastructure from inception to completion, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
• Identifying, diagnosing, and resolving issues that arise in the network infrastructure, such as structural weaknesses or damage from environmental factors.
• Performing regular inspections and maintenance on existing telecommunications infrastructure to ensure it remains in optimal condition.
• Working closely with electrical engineers, network architects, and other professionals to integrate mechanical and structural systems with electronic and software components.
• Choosing appropriate materials for construction that ensure durability, longevity, and cost-effectiveness while meeting design specifications and regulatory requirements.
• Overseeing construction projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
• Continuously seeking ways to improve construction processes and materials to enhance the performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness of telecommunications infrastructure.
• Implementing safety protocols to protect workers and the public during construction and maintenance activities.

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, or a related field.
• Most occupations in this unit group have a level of skill commensurate with a bachelor degree or higher qualification. In some instances, relevant experience and/or on-the-job training may be required in addition to the formal qualification (ANZSCO Skill Level 1).
• Proven experience in project coordination or management in the telecommunications industry.
• Strong knowledge of systems, technologies, and infrastructure.
• Familiarity with project management methodologies and tools.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Problem-solving and analytical thinking abilities.
• Attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Proficiency in project management software and MS Office applications.
