Salary: $76,000 - $80,000 plus superannuation
The Opportunity
This role offers the chance to work in a busy Italian kitchen where you will prepare menu items, manage station production, and support smooth, timely service. You’ll play an important part in maintaining food standards, kitchen organisation, and customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare, cook, and present high-quality Italian house specials according to standard recipes.
- Oversee day-to-day kitchen operations, ensuring efficient workflow during peak service times.
- Manage mise en place, including dough preparation, slicing, marination, portioning, and storage.
- Maintain food quality, taste, and consistency across all menu items.
- Monitor stock levels, assist with ordering, and minimise food waste through proper rotation (FIFO).
- Uphold strict hygiene and food safety standards, including temperature logs and allergen management.
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and report any maintenance issues.
- Collaborate with management on menu improvements, daily specials, and seasonal updates.
- Train and guide junior cooks, pizza staff, and kitchen hands.
- Keep the kitchen, prep areas, and storage clean, organised, and compliant at all times.
- Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent) preferred.
- Minimum one to two years’ experience as a Chef in an Italian venue.
- Strong skills in pizza preparation, oven operation, dough handling, and pasta cooking.
- Solid understanding of WHS, food safety, and kitchen hygiene protocols.
- Ability to work quickly and calmly during high-volume service periods.
- Strong teamwork, communication, and time-management abilities.
- Reliable, self-motivated, and committed to maintaining high standards.
