Throughout the day, you'll engage in incident investigations, maintain accurate safety metrics, and ensure compliance with corporate expectations and local laws. Your effective communication skills will enable you to convey clear and consistent messages, empowering associates, leaders, and coordinators to embrace Amazon's safety standards.

As a Safety Specialist, you'll have the opportunity to shape the future of our WHS Management System in Australia, contributing to the development of procedures, training materials, and inspection programs that align with Amazon's Global WHS Standards (GEMS).

Key job responsibilities
  • Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly audits to identify compliance issues, safety risks, and improvement opportunities.
  • Facilitate incident investigation processes and maintain accurate safety incident information.
  • Perform safety observations, audits, and targeted training to upskill teams on safety responsibilities.
  • Collaborate with site operations teams and the WHS manager to execute company policies and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Participate in process improvement activities and drive actions to completion.
  • Support the development of the WHS Management System, procedures, training materials, and inspection programs.
  • May have additional responsibility for fire prevention, hazardous waste management, or other safety related activities depending on the business unit and location.

Imagine a day where you inspire change through comprehensive risk assessments and data-driven insights on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams, conducting trainings and coaching associates on safe work habits.

Your keen eye for identifying improvement opportunities will drive continuous enhancement of our safety protocols, leveraging lean principles and kaizen methodologies.

About the team

The BWU2 WHS team mission is to empower and enable our leaders and team onsite to drive safety ownership. We all enjoy team engagement activities, especially those with food and conversation.

  • Experience in workplace health & safety (WHS) related field
  • Certificate IV in Workplace Health and Safety- Experience in emergency response
  • Experience in worker's compensation case management
  • Experience using Microsoft Word in a professional capacity
  • Bachelors degree in Health and Safety related field.
