What you'll be doing

The Clinical Psychologist working in the Sydney Children's Hospital Randwick Rehab2Kids service provides assessment and therapeutic intervention to children and young people with a history of acquired brain injury, cerebral palsy, neurological conditions and spinal cord injury, referred for behavioural, emotional and social problems and adjustment difficulties.

Within the multidisciplinary team context, the Clinical Psychologist provides expertise regarding psychological issues and assists with the planning of interventions. Feedback is given to team members at weekly meetings.

The Clinical Psychologist is part of a multi-disciplinary team consisting of medical and allied health staff. The Clinical Psychologist is involved in various educational in-services and mandatory training. The Clinical Psychologist is a member of the Psychology Department, and will be required to perform administrative and professional duties in addition to their clinical role.

This position will also participate in the hospital Psychology Intake roster and cover other positions when required

  • Full Registration with the Psychology Board of Australia. Full endorsement with the Psychology Board of Australia in the area of Clinical Psychology or eligible to progress to same with the Psychology Board of Australia.
  • 2.Minimum two-year full-time equivalent accredited postgraduate Masters or Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology
  • Experience in paediatric psychological assessment and therapy
  • Experience working in a multidisciplinary team
  • Demonstrated professional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Understanding of emotional, social and behavioural issues and comorbidities that can arise for children with a disability and/or history of brain injury

Applicants currently enrolled in a combined Masters/Ph D are eligible to apply if they have completed the equivalent of Masters degree requirements as part of the Ph D pathway. Evidence of this is demonstrated by a completed PDEC-76 form and cover letter from the University confirming Masters degree requirements have been met.

Applicants are eligible to apply if they have completed an accredited Masters degree and are awaiting their graduation ceremony. Written confirmation from the University is required.

Successful applicants who have completed the Masters degree or Masters degree requirements and are awaiting full registration from the Psychology Board of Australia will be paid at Year 2 of the Psychologist Scale until they have full registration with the Psychology Board of Australia, at which point they will commence on Year 1 of the Clinical Psychologist scale.
