Join our innovative Bachelor of Design (Fashion) program at the Department of Architectural and Industrial Design! We are seeking a passionate Lecturer in Fashion Design to deliver engaging content in core units such as sewing, pattern making, draping, garment construction, sustainability, and digital technologies.

As a key contributor to curriculum development, teaching, and research at Swinburne’s School of Design and Architecture (So DA), you will enhance the student experience and deliver exceptional graduate outcomes. We are looking for a candidate with strong traditional and nascent digital fashion design skills, industry connections, and insights into the evolving fashion landscape.

In this role, you will be recognized as an emerging expert, known for innovative teaching and research. You will also engage in interdisciplinary collaboration, forging connections with academic disciplines, industry partners, and government entities.

About You

To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to manage curriculum, and high-quality teaching in Fashion Design with outstanding graduate outcomes.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and professional application of practices including, but not limited to, sewing, garment construction, pattern making, computer aided design (CAD).
  • Sound knowledge of computers, and standard design software packages including, but not limited to, Style CAD, Clo3D, and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • An emerging track record in publishing research and/or attracting external research income through competitive grants and/or industry collaboration.
  • Breadth of experience encompassing a diverse range of fashion disciplines such as apparel, soft goods, accessories and footwear.

Qualifications

An earned doctoral qualification or significant progress towards attaining a doctoral qualification in Fashion Design or associated field, or professional practice equivalence.
