DUTIES
  • Selects and Inspects Ingredients: Carefully sources and evaluates fresh spices, herbs, vegetables, meats, and other ingredients essential to authentic Indian cuisine, ensuring quality and authenticity for every dish prepared.
  • Prepares Ingredients: Measures precise quantities of ingredients according to traditional Indian recipes, thoroughly cleans vegetables and meats, chops and slices items with attention to size and texture, and blends spices and pastes to achieve the rich flavors characteristic of Indian cooking.
  • Seasoning and Cooking: Expertly seasons dishes using a variety of regional spices and marinades, applies cooking techniques such as tempering (tadka), slow simmering, grilling (tandoori), and frying to develop complex flavors and textures. Ensures each dish is cooked to perfection while maintaining its traditional taste and presentation.
  • Monitors Cooking Processes: Continuously oversees the cooking progress to maintain the correct cooking times and temperatures for diverse Indian dishes such as curries, biryanis, breads, and snacks. Ensures food is not only cooked properly but also beautifully plated to meet the restaurant’s standards.
  • Supervises Kitchen Staff: Coordinates and leads the kitchen team during busy service hours, delegating tasks such as ingredient prep, cooking, and plating. Collaborates closely with sous chefs and other kitchen staff to maintain smooth and efficient operations while upholding hygiene and safety standards.
  • Maintains Kitchen Cleanliness and Equipment: Ensures all kitchen tools, utensils, and cooking equipment are cleaned and maintained regularly, complying with food safety regulations. Responsible for keeping the kitchen environment clean, organized, and safe for staff.
  • Manages Inventory: Monitors stock levels of spices, ingredients, and kitchen supplies, placing orders and replenishing items as needed to avoid shortages and ensure continuous kitchen operations without compromising on ingredient quality.
  • Contributes to Menu Development: Assists the head chef or culinary team in creating and refining new recipes and menu offerings that highlight traditional and contemporary Indian flavors, incorporating seasonal ingredients and customer feedback to keep the menu exciting and authentic.
REQUIRED SKILLS
A relevant Certificate III and certificate IV and one year of experience required

Experience in Indian Cuisine is essential
